Partners for Climate Protection GHG Initiatives of the Month

The Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) program is a network of Canadian municipal governments that have committed to reducing greenhouse gases and acting on climate change. A recent addition to the tools and resources available from PCP is the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reduction Initiative of the Month. This series documents PCP members’ emission reduction initiatives, and shares their environmental and economic results, lessons learned and next steps. Two of these initiatives relate to green buildings:

 Other resources

  • The Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) works to lead and accelerate the transformation to high-performing, healthy green buildings, homes and communities throughout Canada by offering services and resources designed to:

    • change industry standards,
    • develop best design practices and guidelines,
    • advocate for green buildings, and
    • support its members in implementing sustainable design and construction practices.

  • The Living Building Challenge: What if every single act of design and construction made the world a better place?

Launched in 2006 by the International Living Building Institute (ILBI), the Living Building Challenge seeks to answer this question by raising the bar in green building practices. The program offers a performance-based methodology that encourages building design and construction teams to make informed decisions and achieve the highest possible level of sustainability in the built environment. The ILBI is a non-governmental organization comprised of leading green building experts and thought leaders dedicated to creating a truly sustainable built environment.
